The Moustache Brothers are a comedy group based in Mandalay, Burma that perform nightly shows that range
from political satire to slapstick. The military didn’t find their jokes funny at a 1996 Independence Day
celebration and jailed two of the brothers—Par Par Lay (center) and Lu Zaw (left)—for seven years. The third member and only English speaker, Lu Maw (right), runs the show with the aid of word boards. They perform
nightly starting at 8:30 p.m. at 23/1 39th Street between 80th & 81st. Entrance fee is 8,000 kyat.
