Cartagena, Colombia is one of my favorite cities in the world. A colorful, well-preserved colonial town with salsa music flowing out of every door at night. The party never stops here, and sleep is rare. I forced myself to get up at sunrise a few days to photograph the beauty of the city in silence without the tourists and vendors.

The elaborate door knockers in old town Cartagena have meanings. Lizards stand for royalty.
